Challenger Russell back after failed bid in 2008 It’s part déjà vu, part uncharted territory. Two years after winning her 11th term in the U.S. House of Representatives, Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D) is seeking re-election once again. Her opponent is a familiar challenger - Hawthorne resident Jim Russell (R), 56, who lost two years ago to Lowey and remains an underdog. But this time around, Russell is banking on a perceived anti-incumbency movement that led to upsets such as the victory last year of Rob Astorino (R) over three-term incumbent Andy Spano (D) in the Westchester County executive race. |
